Ewan McGregor was one of the lucky few who had a pretty stellar Emmy’s night last night. As the 50-year-old Scottish actor took home an award for his role in the Netflix produced, “Halston”. As he got off the stage with his award though he started talking Star Wars. The actor is set to reprise his role as the famous Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off series. The series is set to be released on Disney Plus sometime in 2022. 20 years after his first appearance in the film saga!
What He Is Saying Of His Time Filming The Series
Certainly, Star Wars fans will be getting excited about this. At least that’s what Disney hopes after some of their efforts to produce content within the Star Wars universe has not met expectations. At least McGregor had fun filming the series saying to reporters last night,
“We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun,”
The actor who also doubles up as an executive producer for this project didn’t sound overly enthusiastic when he mentioned this. However, he did go on to give us a couple more details on what to expect from the series.
Star Wars In The 4K Age
Star Wars films had always been known for their marvelous work in special effects. Granted, some of these effects look cheaply made now. Particularly when talking about the first 3 movies. You have to take that with a grain of salt though of course. Seeing as how they were made so long ago. Even the next set of movies that Ewan McGregor features in are set to be over 20 years old when the new Obi-Wan series comes out. McGregor is essentially promising fans some high level special effects saying,
“The new technology that we employed doing it is cool, and it was a different experience than making the original three films that I did.”
No Talk of Hayden Christensen
Although McGregor did go out of his way to say that he had a great time filming the series and raved about his experience working with director Deborah Chow, he didn’t reference any of his castmates. There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader. Christensen hasn’t really remained as relevant in the film industry since his last time playing the character in 2005.
There was also speculation about the return of Natalie Portman as Padme. There’s been no confirmation that she’ll be coming back. Sorry for the spoiler, but the series is set to take place 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Therefore, her character is seemingly dead and buried.
Taking Time to Appreciate His Award & The Award Show Experience
Ewan McGregor didn’t just ignore his award and proceed to talk Star Wars after the show. He also talked about his nerve-wrecking experience. As he sat there and waited for the award winners to be officially announced. While also taking some time to express the importance of some of the speeches that were made on the night. Particularly the ones regarding women’s rights. McGregor mentioned,
“I have four daughters, and the importance of women and women’s rights, and equality for women, and equal pay for women … It’s so great to be in a room where people are talking about that.
