On October 16, 2019, Helen Hunt was involved in a brutal accident in Los Angeles, California.
Now, she is suing the automobile company– specifically a Los Angeles Limousine service that was handling the car she was riding in when the ghastly accident occurred.
According to some court files obtained by PEOPLE magazine, the actress had filed a complaint some days back via her lawyer against the limousine service, affirming that she lost her earnings and was inflicted with personal injuries due to the accident.
On that fateful day, Hunt was seated in the backseat of a black Sport Utility Vehicle on the streets of Los Angeles when her car was broadsided after trying to find its way through a crossroad.
The footage from the accident area showed a collision between a white car and a black SUV. It also showed the SUV somersaulting from the impact it made with the intersection.
Details Of The Charges Filed By Hunt
In the complaint against the automobile company, Hunt made it clear that the L.A. limousine service was responsible for the injuries she sustained during the crash and she is requesting compensatory damages.
She went further to list the type of damages, stating “loss of earning capacity,” “medical expenses,” “wage loss,” “personal injury,” and so on – making emphasis on the loss of earnings and emotional distress she went through. In the complaint, Hunt also said that the offenders were derelict.
When PEOPLE contacted the L.A. limousine company concerning the issue, it was reported that they had no comments.
On the other hand, Hunt’s advocate did not quickly respond to the request for comment from the same magazine.
Extensive Reports From The LAPD
A representative of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) told PEOPLE that the accident involving two vehicles happened on a Wednesday evening and the actress/director was hospitalized after the serious accident.
Nevertheless, the spokesperson refused to disclose the names of the parties involved.
Additionally, the rep said that Hunt was among the victims that were transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, but on a thorough investigation by the Police, it was confirmed that no crime whatsoever was committed.
It was also reported that after the actress was brought to the hospital and successfully examined by the doctors on duty, she was released the evening of that same day.
Her Post-Crash Acting Career
At the time of the accident, Hunt was in the middle of filming the “Mad About You” reboot. The incident prompted her to take a break from it although she returned to set some months after.
After the crash, she featured in a 2020 crime-drama movie, “The Night Clerk,” she also starred in another movie titled “How It Ends.” The film was released two months ago.
In December 2020, it was revealed that the popular American actress will star in a leading role in the Starz series, “Blindspotting.”
