Singer Jesy Nelson said she bawled her eyes out after listening to her newest album.

The Essex-based star had signed a deal with Polydor, which also caters to stars like Billie Eilish and Sam Fender, but released only one song with them before parting ways.

She told her followers that her new album would be candid and touch on things she’s never spoken about.

The former “Little Mix” star announced that she’d finished her first solo album in an emotional post.

“Just sat here listening to my album in my car, and I’ve literally cried my eyes out like a baby,” Nelson wrote on her Instagram Story. “I’ve never felt more proud. I can’t wait to share with you guys.”

She shared that her new album will be honest and contain topics she’s “never, ever spoken about before.”

She continued, “I’ve honestly never felt more proud. I cannot wait to share it with you guys. There are things I’ve written on there that I’ve never, ever spoken about; I’ve poured my heart and soul into this and hope you love it as much as I do and the people that have worked just as hard on it with me.”

While this comes as a happy surprise to fans, the record label that will distribute the album remains a question yet to be unanswered.

Nelson recently left her record label, Polydor, just over a year after signing with them. She was able to release one single, “Boyz,” while they worked together. An inside source shared with The Sun that she walked away from the music label to make a fresh start in her music.

“Jesy decided it was the right time for her to make a clean break. She and the label have been going in different directions in recent months. And while there hasn’t been a fall-out, Jesy felt it was better to start afresh now – while everyone was still friends.

Jesy enjoyed her time with Polydor – but feels, rather than go on together while having such differing musical ideas for the future, she now wants to be able to fully develop her ideas as an individual artist,” the source concluded.

Nonetheless, it’s thought that Nelson is in talks with other record labels, and the release of her new album is well underway.

Jesy Nelson Was Told To Improve The Music In Her Album

In June, a source told The Sun that Nelson’s new album was constantly sent back to the drawing board after the music executives felt that it could do with more improvement.

“After releasing Boyz last year, Jesy let the label hear early versions of the songs she had come up with. The bosses felt sure there was potential there, but they wanted her to go back to the drawing board. They felt the tracks would benefit from it — so that is what she has done,” the source added.

While the source shared that while there were high hopes for her album when it finally got completed, there’s no date of release yet.

“No one knows which songs will make the final cut,’ they said. “Jesy is still working on the music, so it doesn’t make sense for label bosses to pencil a release date until she’s finished.”

Two years ago, Nelson quit the band she’s been in for over ten years. She cited that she couldn’t cope with the pressures of being in a girl group, adding that it took a toll on her mental health. She also revealed how unhappy she felt while performing alongside Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirwall.

“The truth is, recently being in the band has taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.”

While she hadn’t spoken to the trio at the time of the interview, she still referred to them as her sisters.

“We were so close, so you can’t do in-between, there has to be space, and hopefully, at some point in the future, we can all come back together,” Nelson told Glamour UK, mentioning that she has sent a few text messages to her former bandmates.
