Jodie Sweetin Vows Not To Back Down From Abortion Rights Protest After Being Pushed By Police – ‘Our Activism Will Continue’
Following the supreme court’s decision to overturn the Roe V. Wade Act, many citizens have begun pockets of protest in their various places, expressing their dissatisfaction with the choice taken by the nation’s highest court.
Many celebrities have jumped on board, writing remarks on their social media accounts and speaking out during interviews and news appearances. Some have gone even farther, demonstrating against the decision in live protest.
“Full House” star Jodie Sweetin, who was among those who took their protests to the streets, was involved in a confrontation with local enforcement that ended badly and may have required her to visit the hospital. She has now issued a statement stating that she will not relent in her campaign for abortion rights anytime soon, regardless of the cost.
‘We Are Not Free Until…..’
A video of the former child star recently went viral, showing her protesting the reversal of the Roe v. Wade ruling. Sweetin was seen thrown to the ground by police at the protest ground as they attempted to contain the crowd.
As per Yahoo! spokeswoman for the actress has subsequently stated that she is in good condition and has not been affected by the event. The actor then issued a statement in which she praised the protesters and pledged not to back down on joining protest activities online and offline until a change is made.
“I’m extremely proud of the hundreds of people who showed up yesterday to exercise their First Amendment rights and take immediate action to peacefully protest the giant injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court,” the “Love Under The Rainbow” star said per a report obtained by a news outlet.
“Our activism will continue until our voices are heard, and action is taken. This will not deter us; we will continue fighting for our rights. We are not free until ALL of us are free.”
Police said Protesters Were Attempting To Take Over The Freeway

Following the backlash they have received since the footage went viral, the Los Angeles Police Department also issued a statement explaining why the police officers pushed the actress.
“The LAPD is aware of a video clip of a woman being pushed to the ground by officers not allowing the group to enter on foot and overtake the 101 freeway,” a spokesman from the LAPD’s Media Relations Division stated.
“The force used will be evaluated against the LAPD’s policy and procedure. As the nation continues to wrestle with the latest Supreme Court decision, the Los Angeles Police Department will continue to facilitate First Amendment rights while protecting life and property.”
While Sweetin has not responded to the claim, an Instagram user who shared photographs of the incident has contradicted that statement saying “she was trying to lead a group of peaceful protestors away from the freeway” and did not instigate the forceful action from the police.
Jodie Sweetin Seeks For Support For Planned Parenthood Access
Away from the protest scene, Sweetin moved to Instagram to share a message from Planned Parenthood, a non-government group that advocates for abortion rights. In the message, they stated that they would continue to fight to ensure that individuals had access to planned parenthood alternatives.
“We know you may be feeling a lot of things right now – hurt, anger, confusion. Whatever you feel it is OK. We’re here with you – and we’ll never stop fighting for you,” the post read.
She then accompanied the photo with a message that was a clarion cry to supporters to donate to the abortion rights campaign, as well as specifics on how individuals in need of planned parenthood access may obtain all the assistance they require.
“**FUNDRAISER** It’s happened, ladies. Start saving and sharing the resources that you’ll need. @plannedparenthood If you need an abortion, help is available to make sure you get the care you need. Call 1-800-230-PLAN or visit AbortionFinder.org.”
Fans Reaction To Jodie Sweetin

Fans filled Sweetin’s comment section with words of praise, thanking her for joining the fight in support of abortion rights and slammed the police for using force against her at the protest ground.
“I am so sorry about what happened to you. Watching the video got me so upset, I couldn’t stop crying. LAPD can do better. I am sorry this is happening to you in your country that you love,” one fan said.
“I hope you’re ok. Thank you for doing all you do,” another fan penned.
“Thank you, Jodi, for being a role model for so many young women and we oldsters also,” one follower wrote.
The recent overturning of the Roe v. Wade legislature implies that every state across the U.S can now independently set their own abortion laws, with many already issuing regulations that have now been deemed highly restrictive to those interested in planned parenthood.
