TikTok star Derrick Jason has amassed more than half a million followers on the social media platform, but he has his eyes set on a new goal … the next Spider-Man!
Dedicated To The Character
Jason has been making a hard push on TikTok and Instagram for Marvel to tap him as the next Miles Morales – an alternate universe version of Spider-Man who became a fan-favorite in the 2018 Oscar-winning animated film, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
Taking to his social media posts, Jason has been showing off his spidey skills while wearing the signature outfit and racking up thousands of views.
Defending The Streets
Derrick Jason is so serious about becoming Miles Morales that he even teamed up with some other TikTok superheroes for a day of patrolling the neighborhood. Jason was seen in Santa Monica rocking the Spidey outfit alongside social media influencers, Corey Campbell, Dreko Bandz, Cat Conley, Errol Cummings jr, Javier Rovira, and Nikolai Hauck.
We’re told the stars surprised fans with the impromptu meet and greets, which included some fun photos with their followers IRL.
Calling Out Jaden
Derrick Jason isn’t afraid to mix it up with a little friendly competition, as he recently sent a jab over to Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s son, Jaden Smith, who recently made his own push to be Miles Morales.
“@c.syresmith Sorry bro, But @marvel I’m the real Miles Morales,” Jason wrote on IG.
The tease was done in response to Jaden posting a photo of himself wearing a Spider-Man mask. Jaden has also been one of the names circulated by fans for Miles Morales consideration, along with “Stranger Things” star, Caleb McLaughlin.
Although there has been no official word of Marvel making a live-action Miles Morales movie, there was some foreshadowing in the recent “Spider-Man: No Way Home” that implies Morales will see more play in the MCU.
